We accept four new PGY-1 residents each year.
We seek highly qualified individuals who have a range of experiences, which will help them to thrive in our environment.
We prefer candidates with excellent USMLE scores (typically above 225, on 1st attempt for USMLE Step 1), who do not require visas, although we will accept a highly qualified candidate who requires a J-1 visa.
We have ostepathic representation among our faculty and residents.
We are a fully accredited ACGME Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency training program that is affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College and St. George’s University Medical School.
Located in the south Bronx, our hospital is a very busy and challenging place with a wide variety of patients with clinical & social needs. We have many Spanish-speaking patients, although we regularly see patients who represent just about any cultural or ethic group found in NYC.
We have the 3rd most active emergency room in the United States, and our labor and delivery triage unit functions as an extension of the emergency room.
We deliver about 1,800 patients and perform about 500 gynecologic (and sub-specialty) surgeries annually.
Senior residents also rotate to another hospital (Trinitas Regional Medical Center) in New Jersey for a community private hospital experience, which includes robotic surgery
We do not offer observerships.
Application to the program and residency matching are exclusively through the E.R.A.S. and N.R.M.P. system.
Each year we have nearly 600 applicants for our 4 categorical intern (PGY-1) positions.
We cannot interview all applicants, so we select a subset of the applicant pool for interview and further consideration.
